Presentación de la Memoria 11 de la Appleton Private University por el Rector Dr. José M. Castelo-Appleton

Es un honor y un privilegio presentar la Memoria 11 de nuestra distinguida institución. Hoy, celebramos los logros y avances que solidifican nuestra posición a la vanguardia de la educación y la innovación, especialmente en el campo de las artes cinematográficas.

Quiero comenzar expresando mi más sincera gratitud a todos los que han contribuido al éxito del I Festival Internacional de Cortos Paradox Film. Este evento ha superado todas las expectativas, trascendiendo el mero entretenimiento para convertirse en una plataforma vital para la reflexión y el diálogo social a través del cine. 

Paradox Film Festival: Historias que Transforman

El festival, organizado por Paradox Film Production en asociación con la Appleton Private University, la Facultad del Ocio Nocturno y la International Nightlife Association, ha demostrado ser un crisol de creatividad y compromiso social. Recibimos más de 650 cortometrajes de 25 países, lo que subraya el creciente interés en un cine comprometido con los valores sociales y el impacto positivo.

Premios y Reconocimientos:

Estamos inmensamente orgullosos de los cortometrajes galardonados, cada uno de los cuales encarna la misión de nuestro festival:

• Primer Premio: "Para remediar el daño: Vigilancia Indígena"
• Dirigido por Fernando Cola (Alejandro Parellada).
• Este documental impactante nos sumerge en la lucha de las comunidades indígenas de la Amazonía peruana contra la devastación petrolera, resaltando su papel crucial en la protección del medio ambiente. Es un llamado urgente a la conciencia y la acción por la justicia social y la sostenibilidad.
• Segundo Premio: "El amigo de los pobres"
• Dirigido por Javier Fuentes.
• Un emotivo retrato de la vida de Cipriano González, cuya dedicación desinteresada transformó la comunidad de Toledo, España, al asegurar que "a nadie le faltara un plato de comida en la mesa." Una historia que nos conmueve e inspira a una mayor humanidad.
• Tercer Premio: "Mi isla"
• Dirigido por Juan Paytubí.
• Una obra que nos invita a reflexionar sobre la identidad y la conexión con el hogar a través de la vida de Marisa, una mujer de 83 años que encuentra plenitud en su soledad elegida. Este cortometraje celebra la sabiduría y la resiliencia de nuestros mayores.
• Cuarto Premio: "Historia de los Z.G: Fantasmas del Pasado"
• Dirigido por David Mendoza.
• Una propuesta de ciencia ficción que combina acción trepidante con una profunda exploración de temas antropológicos y emocionales como la guerra, la pérdida y la memoria.
• Mención Especial: "Bird Drone"
• Dirigido por Radheya Jegatheva.
• Esta audaz y conmovedora historia sobre una gaviota solitaria y un dron resonó por su ingenio y su capacidad para explorar la conexión y la aceptación en un mundo tecnológico. En un gesto espontáneo, la Appleton Private University otorgó un diploma especial en reconocimiento a su singularidad y valor artístico.

Quiero destacar la labor del Dr. David Mendoza, cuyo cortometraje "Historia de los Z.G: Fantasmas del Pasado" fue galardonado con el Cuarto Premio. El Dr. Mendoza es un intelectual y artista multidisciplinario con doctorados en Historia y Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Sevilla, y formación en Criminalística Forense y Psicología Forense. Su prolífica producción intelectual abarca publicaciones científicas, literarias y artísticas, y es el fundador de un nuevo estilo de Nihon Tai Jitsu, Luckyjitsu. Su trayectoria ejemplifica la fusión de conocimiento y expresión artística que promovemos.

Appleton College of Cinematic Arts: Moldeando el Futuro del Cine

En Appleton Private University, no solo celebramos el cine actual, sino que estamos activamente construyendo su futuro a través del Appleton College of Cinematic Arts. Nuestra visión es ser un epicentro de innovación cinematográfica, donde la experimentación tecnológica se fusiona con la exploración artística y la comprensión cultural.

Estamos adaptando nuestro currículo para incluir la formación en realidad virtual (VR), realidad aumentada (AR) y formatos interactivos, capacitando a nuestros estudiantes para crear experiencias cinematográficas inmersivas. Además, estamos explorando el potencial de la inteligencia artificial (IA) como aliada creativa en la generación de guiones, efectos visuales y composición musical, promoviendo su uso ético y creativo.

Nuestra estructura académica se enfoca en rutas de aprendizaje personalizadas, colaboración interdisciplinaria y el desarrollo de habilidades esenciales para el mercado laboral del mañana, como el pensamiento crítico y la resolución de problemas complejos. Contamos con laboratorios de realidad extendida y producción virtual, así como centros de investigación en IA y cine generativo, y una incubadora de proyectos cinematográficos innovadores.

El Appleton College of Cinematic Arts se compromete a formar cineastas que no solo dominen las nuevas tecnologías, sino que también utilicen su arte para explorar las complejidades del mundo contemporáneo, promover la comprensión intercultural y enriquecer el patrimonio cultural global.

Próximos Eventos y Colaboraciones

La creatividad en nuestra universidad no se limita al cine. Z.G. Fiction, en colaboración con Paradox Film, ha iniciado el rodaje de "Las Otras Almas", una película de terror psicológico basada en la novela "Las Semillas de los Caracoles" del Dr. David Mendoza. Este proyecto, dirigido por el Dr. Mendoza, Antonio Sánchez Macatangay e Ismael de Vil, promete ser una experiencia cinematográfica inquietante y un referente en el género.

Además, Lord Marchen lanzará próximamente "Diario Maldito", un libro digital que ofrece una mirada íntima al rodaje de "Las Otras Almas", con anécdotas y fotografías exclusivas, en colaboración con ZG FICTION, PARADOX FILM y APPLETON UNIVERSITY PRESS.

Agradezco a todos los participantes, el jurado, los votantes y el público por hacer de esta primera edición del festival un éxito rotundo.

Dear members of the Appleton Private University community, film enthusiasts, and collaborators!

It is an honor and a privilege to present Memory 11 of our distinguished institution. Today, we celebrate the achievements and advancements that solidify our position at the forefront of education and innovation, especially in the field of cinematic arts.

I want to start by expressing my sincerest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the success of the 1st Paradox Film International Short Film Festival. This event has exceeded all expectations, transcending mere entertainment to become a vital platform for reflection and social dialogue through cinema.

Paradox Film Festival: Stories that Transform

The festival, organized by Paradox Film Production in association with Appleton Private University, the Faculty of Nightlife Studies, and the International Nightlife Association , has proven to be a melting pot of creativity and social commitment. We received over 650 short films from 25 countries , which underscores the growing interest in cinema committed to social values and positive impact.

Awards and Recognitions:

We are immensely proud of the awarded short films, each of which embodies the mission of our festival:

• First Prize: "To Remedy the Harm: Indigenous Vigilance"
• Directed by Fernando Cola (Alejandro Parellada).
• This impactful documentary immerses us in the struggle of the indigenous communities of the Peruvian Amazon against oil devastation, highlighting their crucial role in environmental protection. It is an urgent call to awareness and action for social justice and sustainability.
• Second Prize: "The Friend of the Poor"
• Directed by Javier Fuentes.
• A moving portrait of the life of Cipriano González, whose selfless dedication transformed the community of Toledo, Spain, by ensuring that "no one would lack a plate of food on their table". A story that moves and inspires us to greater humanity.
• Third Prize: "My Island"
• Directed by Juan Paytubí.
• A work that invites us to reflect on identity and the connection with home through the life of Marisa, an 83-year-old woman who finds fulfillment in her chosen solitude. This short film celebrates the wisdom and resilience of our elders.
• Fourth Prize: "History of the Z.G: Ghosts of the Past"
• Directed by David Mendoza.
• A science fiction proposal that combines fast-paced action with a deep exploration of anthropological and emotional themes such as war, loss, and memory.
• Special Mention: "Bird Drone"
• Directed by Radheya Jegatheva.
• This bold and moving story about a lonely seagull and a human-operated drone resonated for its ingenuity and its ability to explore connection and acceptance in a technological world. In a spontaneous gesture, Appleton Private University awarded a special diploma in recognition of its uniqueness and artistic value.

I want to highlight the work of Dr. David Mendoza, whose short film "Historia de los Z.G: Fantasmas del Pasado" was awarded the Fourth Prize. Dr. Mendoza is an intellectual and multidisciplinary artist with doctorates in History and Fine Arts from the University of Seville, and training as a Forensic Criminalist and Forensic Psychologist. His prolific intellectual output encompasses scientific, literary, and artistic publications, and he is the founder of a new style of Nihon Tai Jitsu called Luckyjitsu. His trajectory exemplifies the fusion of knowledge and artistic expression that we promote.

Appleton College of Cinematic Arts: Shaping the Future of Cinema

At Appleton Private University, we not only celebrate current cinema, but we are actively building its future through the Appleton College of Cinematic Arts. Our vision is to be an epicenter of cinematic innovation, where technological experimentation merges with artistic exploration and cultural understanding.

We are adapting our curriculum to include training in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and interactive formats, empowering our students to create immersive cinematic experiences. Furthermore, we are exploring the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) as a creative ally in script generation, visual effects, and musical composition, promoting its ethical and creative use.

Our academic structure focuses on personalized learning paths, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of essential skills for tomorrow's job market, such as critical thinking and complex problem-solving. We have extended reality and virtual production laboratories, as well as research centers in AI and generative cinema, and an incubator for innovative film projects.

The Appleton College of Cinematic Arts is committed to training filmmakers who not only master new technologies but also use their art to explore the complexities of the contemporary world, promote intercultural understanding, and enrich global cultural heritage.

Upcoming Events and Collaborations

The creativity at our university is not limited to cinema. Z.G. Fiction, in collaboration with Paradox Film, has begun filming "Las Otras Almas" (The Other Souls), a psychological horror film based on Dr. David Mendoza's novel "Las Semillas de los Caracoles" (The Seeds of Snails). This project, directed by Dr. Mendoza, Antonio Sánchez Macatangay, and Ismael de Vil, promises to be a disturbing cinematic experience and a benchmark in the genre.

In addition, Lord Marchen will soon release "Diario Maldito" (Damned Diary), a digital book offering an intimate look at the filming of "Las Otras Almas," with exclusive anecdotes and photographs, in collaboration with ZG FICTION, PARADOX FILM, and APPLETON UNIVERSITY PRESS.

I thank all the participants, the jury, the voters, and the public for making this first edition of the festival a resounding success.
