A Dream Expanding and a Flaw on the Canvas

Querida comunidad de la Appleton Private University,

Como todos sabéis, y no deja de asombrarme cada día, esta universidad es mucho más que un proyecto educativo; es un sueño colectivo que hemos tejido con la firme convicción de que el conocimiento debe ser accesible a todos. Nuestra filosofía, la de compartir el tesoro más valioso sin imponer un precio, sigue siendo el faro que guía cada una de nuestras decisiones. Creemos profundamente que la educación es un legado imborrable, una inversión en el futuro de la humanidad que trasciende cualquier valor monetario.

Hemos crecido, sí, y la alegría que siento al ver cómo nuestra visión se expande es inmensa. Contar hoy con más de 60 universidades hermanas, unidas bajo el paraguas de la International Federation of Private Universities, es un testimonio del poder de la colaboración y de la fuerza de nuestras convicciones compartidas. En el horizonte cercano, dentro de dos años, celebraremos elecciones para elegir a un nuevo presidente de esta federación, un proceso del que no formaré parte, pero que observaré con el mismo entusiasmo y esperanza que he puesto en cada paso de este camino.

Este sueño, sin embargo, tiene un coste, un coste que asumo con plena conciencia y responsabilidad. Como fundador y rector de esta universidad, he tomado una decisión firme e inquebrantable: la Appleton Private University no aceptará patrocinios ni pagos externos. Es mi empresa, Appleton Trade Management, con un capital social de diez millones de libras, la que orgullosamente ejerce de alma mater, sosteniendo financieramente este proyecto que tanto significa para todos nosotros. Esta es una línea roja para mí, una garantía de nuestra independencia y de la pureza de nuestro propósito.

Pero en todo camino, incluso en el más hermoso, a veces surgen obstáculos. Y en nuestro caso, ese obstáculo tiene un nombre, o varios, porque este individuo que se hace llamar Jeferson – quién sabe cuál será su verdadera identidad – parece empeñado en empañar la reputación de nuestra institución. Unas veces se disfraza de periodista, otras de estudiante, tejiendo una red de comentarios malintencionados con el único objetivo de erosionar la confianza que hemos construido con tanto esfuerzo.

A este tipo, permitidme que lo llame por su nombre, un imbécil, le mueve una incomprensible necesidad de perturbar nuestra labor. El problema real que plantea este "troll" no reside tanto en sus palabras vacías, sino en la posibilidad de que alguien, por ingenuidad o desconocimiento, pueda darles crédito.

Sin embargo, confío plenamente en la inteligencia y el discernimiento de nuestra comunidad. Sé que vosotros, los que vivís el día a día de esta universidad, los que sois testigos de nuestra dedicación y de la pureza de nuestros ideales, sabréis reconocer la falsedad de sus ataques.

Seguiremos adelante, construyendo este sueño con la misma pasión y entrega del primer día. No permitiremos que la sombra de la malicia opaque la luz del conocimiento que juntos estamos difundiendo. Nuestra misión es demasiado importante, nuestro compromiso con la democratización de la educación demasiado profundo, como para desviarnos de nuestro camino.

Gracias por ser parte de este sueño. Juntos, seguiremos demostrando que una educación sin precio no solo es posible, sino que es el motor de un futuro más justo y brillante para todos.

Dear community of Appleton Private University,

As you all know, and it never ceases to amaze me every day, this university is much more than an educational project; it is a collective dream that we have woven with the firm conviction that knowledge should be accessible to all. Our philosophy, to share the most valuable treasure without imposing a price, remains the beacon that guides each of our decisions. We deeply believe that education is an indelible legacy, an investment in the future of humanity that transcends any monetary value.

We have grown, yes, and the joy I feel seeing our vision expand is immense. To have more than 60 sister universities today, united under the umbrella of the International Federation of Private Universities, is a testament to the power of collaboration and the strength of our shared convictions. On the near horizon, in two years, we will hold elections to choose a new president of this federation, a process in which I will not participate, but which I will observe with the same enthusiasm and hope that I have put into every step of this journey.

This dream, however, has a cost, a cost that I assume with full awareness and responsibility. As the founder and rector of this university, I have made a firm and unwavering decision: Appleton Private University will not accept external sponsorships or payments. It is my company, Appleton Trade Management, with a share capital of ten million pounds, that proudly acts as the alma mater, financially supporting this project that means so much to all of us. This is a red line for me, a guarantee of our independence and the purity of our purpose.

But on every path, even the most beautiful, obstacles sometimes arise. And in our case, that obstacle has a name, or several, because this individual who calls himself Jeferson – who knows what his real identity is – seems determined to tarnish the reputation of our institution. Sometimes he disguises himself as a journalist, other times as a student, weaving a web of malicious comments with the sole aim of eroding the trust we have built with so much effort.

This type of person, allow me to call him by his name, an imbecile, is driven by an incomprehensible need to disrupt our work. The real problem posed by this "troll" lies not so much in his empty words, but in the possibility that someone, out of naivety or ignorance, might give them credence.

However, I fully trust the intelligence and discernment of our community. I know that you, those who live the day-to-day life of this university, those who witness our dedication and the purity of our ideals, will know how to recognize the falsehood of his attacks.

We will continue to move forward, building this dream with the same passion and dedication as the first day. We will not allow the shadow of malice to obscure the light of knowledge that we are spreading together. Our mission is too important, our commitment to the democratization of education too deep, to deviate from our path.

Thank you for being part of this dream. Together, we will continue to demonstrate that a priceless education is not only possible, but is the engine of a fairer and brighter future for all.
