Forjando el Futuro: Desatando el Liderazgo S.T.E.E.L para el Próximo Capítulo de Nigeria

Ayer marcó un momento decisivo en el camino hacia la reconfiguración de la narrativa del liderazgo en Nigeria. Por la amable invitación del Reverendo Dr. Douglas Fabeke, Director Ejecutivo de United Mission for Rural and Urban African Community Empowerment (UMFORUACE), y distinguido Miembro del Consejo de Gobierno y Nombrado Doctorado del Awedu Institute, tuve el honor de servir como Ponente Invitado en el Programa de Capacitación en Liderazgo Transformacional, llevado a cabo en el Voyage Bolton Hotel, Port Harcourt.

El evento contó con la asistencia de más de 100 jóvenes visionarios, apasionados y ansiosos por abrazar una nueva dimensión de liderazgo. Mi discurso principal se centró en el tema: "Liderazgo S.T.E.E.L para el Próximo Capítulo de Nigeria", un marco pionero desarrollado para cultivar una nueva generación de líderes equipados para la transformación nacional.

S.T.E.E.L es un acrónimo que encarna los rasgos críticos requeridos para el liderazgo del siglo XXI en Nigeria y más allá:

• Estratégico: Liderar con previsión, planificación y dirección decidida.
• Transformacional: Inspirar el cambio, la innovación y el progreso dentro de las comunidades y los sistemas.
• Ético: Operar con integridad, transparencia y rendición de cuentas.
• Empático: Comprender y conectar profundamente con las personas para fomentar un desarrollo inclusivo.
• Liberador: Crear entornos donde otros puedan crecer, liderar y prosperar de forma independiente.

Estos pilares son más que ideales, son principios accionables adaptados para enfrentar las crisis de liderazgo en tiempo real que Nigeria afronta hoy, como la corrupción, la mediocridad y la desconexión de la juventud.

La energía en la sala era electrizante. Los participantes se involucraron con preguntas que invitaban a la reflexión, reflexiones personales y compromisos claros con la reforma del liderazgo. Juntos, exploramos las disfunciones centrales en la gobernanza y los sistemas institucionales de Nigeria, y proporcioné soluciones pragmáticas y accionables basadas en el modelo S.T.E.E.L.

Se hizo cada vez más claro que la esperanza de Nigeria no reside en sus élites políticas, sino en la audacia, la resiliencia y la claridad de visión que emerge de su juventud. La sesión se sintió como una chispa que encendió un incendio, cada participante salió envalentonado, inspirado y decidido a ser un agente de cambio en sus respectivas esferas.

Extiendo mi más sincero agradecimiento al Reverendo Dr. Douglas Fabeke por su inquebrantable compromiso con el empoderamiento juvenil y por confiar al Awedu Institute of Business Management and Leadership esta oportunidad de moldear mentes. Su pasión por construir una Nigeria mejor a través del desarrollo de capacidades a nivel de base es noble y ejemplar.

En Awedu Institute, seguimos comprometidos con la formación de una nueva generación de líderes que se ganen su lugar en la mesa, no por derecho, sino a través de la excelencia, el servicio ético y el impacto transformacional.

Esto es solo el principio. El movimiento de Liderazgo S.T.E.E.L ha echado raíces, y el futuro de Nigeria ya está siendo forjado.

Yesterday marked a defining moment in the journey toward reshaping Nigeria’s leadership narrative. Upon the gracious invitation of Rev. Dr. Douglas Fabeke, Executive Director of United Mission for Rural and Urban African Community Empowerment (UMFORUACE), and a distinguished Governing Council Member and Doctoral Nominee of Awedu Institute, I had the honour of serving as Guest Speaker at the Transformational Leadership Training Program, convened at Voyage Bolton Hotel, Port Harcourt.

The event was attended by over 100 visionary youths, passionate and eager to embrace a new dimension of leadership. My keynote address centered on the theme: “S.T.E.E.L Leadership for Nigeria’s Next Chapter”, a pioneering framework developed to cultivate a new breed of leaders equipped for national transformation.

S.T.E.E.L is an acronym that embodies the critical traits required for 21st-century leadership in Nigeria and beyond:

• Strategic: Leading with foresight, planning, and purposeful direction.
• Transformational: Inspiring change, innovation, and progress within communities and systems.
• Ethical: Operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
• Empathetic: Understanding and connecting deeply with people to foster inclusive development.
• Liberating: Creating environments where others can rise, lead, and thrive independently.

These pillars are more than ideals, they are actionable principles tailored to confront the real-time leadership crises Nigeria faces today, such as corruption, mediocrity, and youth disengagement.

The energy in the room was electrifying. Participants engaged with thought-provoking questions, personal reflections, and clear commitments to leadership reformation. Together, we explored the core dysfunctions in Nigeria’s governance and institutional systems, and I provided pragmatic, actionable solutions grounded in the S.T.E.E.L model.

It became increasingly clear that Nigeria’s hope lies not in its political elites, but in the boldness, resilience, and clarity of vision emerging from its youth. The session felt like a spark that ignited a wildfire, every participant left emboldened, inspired, and determined to be a change agent in their respective spheres.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Dr. Douglas Fabeke for his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and for trusting the Awedu Institute of Business Management and Leadership with this opportunity to shape minds. His passion for building a better Nigeria through grassroots capacity development is both noble and exemplary.
