Nuestro modelo A1 contempla la idea de un aprendizaje global, donde la razón y las emociones caminan a la par. No concebimos la educación como un proceso meramente racional y desapasionado. Por el contrario, reconocemos que el cerebro humano funciona de manera integrada, y que las emociones juegan un papel crucial en la atención, la memoria y la motivación. Por ello, diseñamos entornos de aprendizaje que son emocionalmente seguros, estimulantes y relevantes para la vida de los alumnos. El fomento de la curiosidad, el asombro y la pasión por el conocimiento son elementos intrínsecos de nuestra metodología.

En este modelo, el alumno es sujeto activo de su aprendizaje y colabora en la construcción de su conocimiento. Dejamos atrás la figura del alumno pasivo que recibe información. En el Modelo A1, el estudiante es un explorador, un investigador, un creador. A través de metodologías activas como el aprendizaje basado en proyectos, el aprendizaje-servicio, el aprendizaje colaborativo y la resolución de problemas, los alumnos no solo adquieren conocimientos, sino que desarrollan habilidades críticas, aplican la teoría a la práctica y construyen un significado personal a partir de su experiencia. La figura del maestro, como veremos en el Capítulo 2, se transforma de un mero transmisor a un facilitador, guía y mentor en este proceso de construcción activa.

Nuestra labor fundamental como educadores es desarrollar el Pensamiento. Esto implica ir más allá de la memorización de datos para fomentar la capacidad de analizar, sintetizar, evaluar y crear. Buscamos que nuestros alumnos logren una visión de conjunto del Saber, no un cúmulo de informaciones puntuales, sin conexión entre sí. En un mundo saturado de datos, la capacidad de establecer conexiones entre diferentes áreas del conocimiento, de identificar patrones y de comprender las implicaciones globales es más valiosa que nunca. Fomentamos el pensamiento sistémico, la capacidad de ver cómo las partes se relacionan con el todo, y cómo un problema en un campo puede tener soluciones en otro.

Our A1 model contemplates the idea of a global learning, where reason and emotions walk hand in hand. We do not conceive of education as a merely rational and dispassionate process. On the contrary, we recognize that the human brain functions in an integrated manner, and that emotions play a crucial role in attention, memory, and motivation. Therefore, we design learning environments that are emotionally safe, stimulating, and relevant to students' lives. The fostering of curiosity, wonder, and passion for knowledge are intrinsic elements of our methodology.

In this model, the student is an active subject of their learning and collaborates in the construction of their knowledge. We leave behind the figure of the passive student who receives information. In the A1 Model, the student is an explorer, a researcher, a creator. Through active methodologies such as project-based learning, service-learning, collaborative learning, and problem-solving, students not only acquire knowledge but also develop critical skills, apply theory to practice, and construct personal meaning from their experience. The figure of the teacher, as we will see in Chapter 2, transforms from a mere transmitter to a facilitator, guide, and mentor in this active construction process.

Our fundamental task as educators is to develop Thinking. This implies going beyond memorizing data to foster the ability to analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and create. We seek for our students to achieve a holistic vision of Knowledge, not a collection of isolated pieces of information, without connection to each other. In a data-saturated world, the ability to establish connections between different areas of knowledge, to identify patterns, and to understand global implications is more valuable than ever. We foster systemic thinking, the ability to see how parts relate to the whole, and how a problem in one field can have solutions in another.
